Every budding hacker should immerse himself in the world of hacker simulation games. These games are not only a way to kill time, but often an excellent way to sharpen your hacking skills. There are a variety of hacking games, but all the good ones use the principles of ethical hacking and pen testing, which means you can put your skills to the test.

Hacknet

Hacknet has become a very popular hacking game since it was launched three years ago and is now played by over 1.4 million people. The game is a highly immersive terminal-based hacking simulator for PC.

The game takes you on a journey through the instructions of a recently deceased hacker. As you dive deeper into the game, there are puzzles to solve and secrets to explore as you hack your way through the unraveling story.

The Hacker game prides itself on providing a real-world hacking experience, not a Hollywood-style hacking mission. The game uses real UNIX commands, which contributes to this. The main themes of the game are the nature of personal privacy and the predominance of corporate greed.

This game is very, very good. On the surface it seems to be a hacking game, a little bit in the style of games like Uplink, but with a big portion of polish. But when you actually get into it, you can better describe it as a really clever puzzle game with a very compelling story

NITE Team 4

The game’s training boot camp includes real cyber security techniques such as information collection, port scanning, fingerprinting, research attack strategy, digital forensics and more. There are 25 certificates to acquire in the final game.

In this hacking simulation game, you take on the role of a hacker hired by a government and join battlefields where you perform tasks to help the government. There is a mission hub where you can select the missions you are interested in and check your progress. You can even join teams with other players to solve the game’s complex puzzles.

The Hacker game has something for everyone, for people who prefer single-player, multiplayer and hackers with different skills. There is a strong community aspect to the game. For example, through your missions you collect files that contain difficult puzzles that need to be solved. These puzzles are complicated and may require internet research or help from the community, which makes you feel like you are all working together.

Not only can hackers probe and steal computers remotely, but they can also send a military unit out to work in the field, which is a fascinating combination.

 Hackmud

Hackmud is a multiplayer that revolves around text-based gameplay for Intel PCs. In the game, you embark on a journey through puzzles to solve and protected systems to crack as you explore the deserted Internet of the future.

A key aspect of the hack simulator game is that your code protects your winnings from other players, as your winnings can be stolen by other players.

You won’t be thrown right in at the deep end, the game includes a single player tutorial to help you get familiar with the crumbling Internet and the cracking and coding required. After you complete the tutorial, you will be thrown into the multiplayer sandbox. Create your own scripts or look at other players’ scripts. Build tools and forge alliances, or lay traps and break shackles.

It starts with a 3-4 hour single-player tutorial that’s really well done and teaches you the basics in a vivid – yet entertaining – way, before throwing you into an imposing and at first impenetrable multiplayer version.

Hack the box

In first place we have Hack the Box. The online platform (not really a game) focuses on testing your penetration testing skills and also provides you with a platform to exchange advice and ideas with other hackers. Hack the Box contains several realistic hacking challenges, some of which are based on real world scenarios and are updated frequently.

When you start the game, there are several machines available for hacking; you hack machines to earn points and improve your rank. The hackable machines range from light to heavy, so there is something for hackers of all levels, and always new challenges to keep you busy.

If you are interested in starting the hack simulator game, you will have to solve an entry-level task where you hack the invitation code. The idea behind it is that if you can’t hack the invitation code, you won’t get anywhere in the hack simulator game.

MEW MHT BLACK 2

As you progress through the espionage and sabotage tasks, you will earn money which you can then use to upgrade your computer systems and buy new software and tools to improve your skills and move through the levels. The higher your level becomes, the more dangerous and profitable missions you will unlock.

This hacking game is very versatile and gives you the opportunity to go many ways, e.g. you can manipulate the stock market, divert other people’s bank account funds into your own or create an extremely deadly computer virus.

It is very straightforward and a damn good hacking simulation. Easy learning curve, but with more and more challenging tasks as the game progresses and you decide to take them and the risks involved or stay small and play smart.

 Uplink

In this hacking strategy game you play an agent, and it is your job to earn your living with jobs for big companies. This includes various professional hacking acts such as hacking into competing corporate systems, stealing high value research data, sabotaging other companies, deleting evidence, laundering money, or framing innocent people.

There is no set dress code for these events, so hackers tend to wear something that reflects their personal style, something they might wear in their daily lives. For some cyber security experts, these are casual cargo pants, a band or movie T-shirt, and comfortable shoes like sliders or hiking boots.
